Tuesday night the chateratti was split between the haves and the have-nots—those who had been invited to Queenie Dhody's party and those who weren't. Among those present were the veritable A-listers of the party frat, culled from Mumbai, Delhi and beyond, and all turned out in killer heels, diamonds and some rather ostentatious gowns and their derivatives!
Well, it was an event to mark the launch of Queenie's editorial venture: Haute, in association with DTC. It was also an opportunity for hosts Hard Rock Café and Belvedere vodka to give people a taste of things to come, literally. The venue, which we heard has resolved crippling license issues and will be swinging in ten days, looked pepped up for the night, even as the drink for the evening seemed to be a refreshing and deceptively smooth Appletini.
Queenie, dressed in a white Cavalli that rustled and hissed around her legs, dazzled with a cluster of diamonds round her neck. The magazine was unveiled by Parmeshwar Godrej, in a black corset dress and matching headgear. Cover girl Lara Dutta walked in and shone with boyfriend Kelly who has by now thrown a serious challenge to Prahlad Kakkar in matters of the hat.
And yes, we especially liked the attentive waiters who came back with the creamy prawns, crispy calamari and maki rolls over and over again. Besides a rather well-engineered laser show, the music was the other thing that got people dancing, till well-past midnight, that is.
